ETITMany tasks in industry, in authorities and in business consultancies, but also in research institutions, contain technical and economic issues that are difficult for both pure engineers and pure economists to deal with alone. This is the ideal field of application for industrial engineers who connect the world of technology with that of business. Due to their extensive training, they should also be able to work in depth in each individual discipline.

In the scientific course of study in industrial engineering, electrical engineering and information technology (ET&IT), students acquire the basic knowledge of the subjects required for professional practice. They develop the ability to apply scientific methods and knowledge independently and on their own authority. The aim of this course is not only to train engineers technically, as happens in the pure engineering sciences, but also to lead them to competences in the fields of technology and economics. You will be at home in both worlds and ensure understandable communication between them.

ETIT

Due to their multidisciplinary training industrial engineers are found in a variety of economic sectors and in almost all technical-economic functional areas and management positions. Their main tasks are:
 
  • set goals and prioritize,
  • plan the procedure and the processes,
  • make considerations and decisions,
  • organize processes,
  • lead employees,
  • and control work results.

The target and employment level is middle and upper management.

The most important fields of activity of industrial engineers are with exemplary activities:

 
  • research, development: definition of future fields of work, profitability calculations, cost-optimized development,
  • organization: Development of organizational forms,
  • logistics / materials management / purchasing: planning and implementation of procurement programs (quantity, time, price),
  • manufacturing, production: Determination of cost-optimal manufacturing concepts,
  • marketing, sales: market research, market analysis, sale of technically demanding (investment) goods, development of system solutions, product management,
  • accounting, controlling: analysis of projects for profitability.

Depending on the region, you can count on an initial salary of 40-50 T€.
